Rustenburg Property

Rustenburg property is situated a mere ninety minute drive from the Johannesburg property area and Pretoria at the foothills of the majestic Magalies Mountain Range. With a population of approximately half a million people, Rustenburg is reputed to be the fastest growing city in Africa. Rustenburg is the second oldest town in the North West Province and the third oldest town in the former Transvaal. Andries Pretorius established the town in 1850. For a while, Rustenburg was the capital of the 'Zuid-Afrikaanse Republiek' before the seat moved to Pretoria. The town with its Jacaranda and Poinsettia-lined streets, lies on the edge of the Bushveld Complex, one of the most heavily mineralised regions in the world.

The platinum mines in Rustenburg are the largest producers of platinum in the world. The agricultural sector in this area has tremendous potential. It is one of the country's most important citrus areas. This town has one of the oldest packing houses in the country, which was established more than half a century ago. The cultivation of tobacco also plays an important role. Given the natural bushveld vegetation that covers the entire area with the added attraction of the Magalies Mountain Range, this region has much to offer the eco-tourism industry and is well-established with many fine holiday resorts; such as Sun City which is world renowned. The Pilanesberg National Park which boasts the 'Big Five' is situated near Rustenburg in the crater of a huge extinct volcano that was formed over 1 300 million years ago. Many cultural and historical markers are situated near most forms of Rustenburg property.

Rustenburg is one of the ten host cities for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and with its modern 40 000 seat Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, Rustenburg was a natural choice for this spectacular event to take place (from 11th June 2010). The phenomenal growth of the town can be measured against the fact that over the past 15 years the growth rate fluctuated 3.55% to 15.50%, which was at all times higher than the national growth rate. Your chosen Rustenburg property will be in the middle of many exciting developments!
